Manufacture Your Day by REALIZING THAT STRESS IS SELF-CREATED

I teach it, I talk about it, I tell others about it, yet I have to constantly remind myself that I don’t stress out over things that I cannot change.
I am fully aware but it still happens that I fall into the “stress trap”.
That’s why I have so much respect for the people who work in the manufacturing industry. They provide so much value and I hope that I will be able to raise awareness about the importance of more respectful work environments. Leadership, communication and planning are a big part of that.
Isn’t it true that whenever we are stressed we turn into a very different person?
This may involve emotions such as becoming aggressive, angry, upset, overwhelmed, helpless, hopeless, and fearful. Some people also freeze and are unable to take any action.
Whatever it is, I want you become aware that stress comes from our internal emotional state. Many people blame their level of stress on outside circumstance but it comes down to how we deal with our daily stressors.
Here are 3 simple action steps you should do when you start to feel stressed:
- Think, reflect and take a few deep breaths (this sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax);
- Remove yourself from the situation and shift focus (ideally go for a walk);
- Time yourself and smile 1 minute straight – the brain doesn’t know the difference between a fake and a real smile (a smile can bring you health benefits even if you don’t start out feeling happy);
The way I stop my urge to be stressed out is by asking myself: “Is it worth it? How much will this matter a week from now?”
This does the trick for me.
This weekend I will travel to Europe for work and for pleasure. I will start organizing the most amazing manufacturing offsite and I will also visit my parents. It’s time to relax and rejuvenate.
You will continue to receive my daily messages but I will give myself a “creative mental break” and that’s why I will recycle some of my older messages.
I believe we learn best through repetition, so let’s give this a try.
Remember to stay in a joyful state as much as you can. This will keep you happy, healthy and all your stressors will start melting away. Let’s work together to be more mindful and stop manufacturing stress.
Auf Wiedersehen! (German for “I will see you again)
