In my view, one of the most undervalued and least understood aspects of innovation is allowing shop floor employees to find a better way of doing things.
Here are a few simple questions to ask yourself:
What if…
- more managers genuinely engaged with their staff?
- we embraced every idea, even partially?
- we saw ideas as chances, not extra work?
- those doing the work took charge of execution?
Continuous improvement is essential if we aspire to thrive in a competitive global market. Begin to see the value that other people bring to the table.
If we want to succeed, we must work together across generations, valuing both experience and new ideas. Showing respect and staying open-minded at all levels is vital.
