Manufacture Your Day by UNDERSTANDING “CAUSE AND EFFECT”
Cause and effect is a topic that many people don’t seem to think about.
That’s why I want to create awareness.
Whether we like it or not, the way we think and how we approach life has a lot to do with the results we see in our personal and professional life.
We may not always reflect on how we contribute to certain situations because it is just so much easier to blame others.
I am sure you have heard the following quote:
Here are a few examples of “Cause and Effect”:
Cause:
Management doesn’t listen
Effects:
Disengaged workforce, lack of continuous improvement ideas
Cause:
Lack of consistent, constructive feedback
Effects:
Negativity, complacency, mediocrity and entitlement
Cause:
Not explaining the “why” in change initiatives or project changes
Effects:
Resistance, frustration and loss of productivity
Cause:
Constant criticism and lack of appreciation
Effects:
People stop caring, more mistakes, KPIs tell a clear story
Cause:
Work environment, which doesn’t encourage personal excellence
Effects:
Poor attitude, being late, missed deadlines, no self-improvement
Cause:
Leadership Coaching
Effects:
Better skills for leadership and human interaction, more self-awareness, positive mental attitude, mental strength, emotional control
Cause:
Positive energy, respectful behaviour, knowing people’s names
Effects:
Meaningful relationships, more win-win situations
Cause:
A positive thought process
Effects:
Positive results (you cannot create positive results with a negative mind)
This list could go on and on, but I am sure you get my point. Whatever the things are that regularly frustrate you at home and/or in your work environment (effects) are there for a reason (cause).
Own it!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a CEO, VP, Manager, Supervisor, Office team member, worker or Machine Operator. You contribute to certain situations in one way or another – either you’re at cause or you’re at effect. There are always 2 sides to every story.
It is important to develop mental strategies that will help you to get better instead of bitter.
It has been said, “In the Karma Cafe are no menus. You get served what you deserve.”
How you think matters. Choose good thoughts (cause) because they will lead to positive actions and results (effects).
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
What do you think, are you more often at cause or at effect?
