Over the years I have had the opportunity to learn so much from the people who have crossed my path.  Today I would like to share a story about John. John is a team leader with 30+ years of international experience in the automotive industry.

Here is what he said:

“Learn to be happy on the inside so that management doesn’t notice that you are happy. Happiness is often perceived as not caring or not being busy enough. However, being upset doesn’t help stressful situations and at the end of the day it is all about being happy.”

Sad story. True Story. Wise Story. There is nothing we can do, or can we? 

I don’t know about you but I had times in my life when I had to dig deep to think happy thoughts.

Sometimes life is tough. Life is hard. Life is unfair. Life is unbearable. Life doesn’t seem to make sense. Life doesn’t give us what we think we deserve. Life is… life.

I have been there and I have gone through every emotional state you can ever imagine. I still do but I get through it better and faster.

My friends who I know for years could tell you how I broke down in tears during a run or a bike ride when I didn’t know what to do anymore.

Tears always help (also true for men). They clean us from the inside out. I always felt better afterwards and found a way to get through my difficulties.

If you think life is tough, please know that the only thing that will help you to turn your life around is thinking happy thoughts.

Change doesn’t happen by changing outside circumstances. Change happens when we shift our focus and our perspective. 

That’s of course easier said than done, especially when you’re going through a difficult time in your life.

There are so many people who think they have no control over their life, yet they do.

Take this from someone who knows.

When you feel down, do your best to shift your focus and find something that makes you feel better.

It’s all about finding the strength to think happy thoughts.
