Manufacture Your Day by STARTING LIFE-ENHANCING HABITS

Have you ever heard that your habits can either make you or break you?
It is true.
People go to work every day and I truly believe that most of them want to give their best.
Unfortunately, they focus more on their to-do list instead of thinking about what will help them to become a better and more balanced person.
Allow me to give you my spin on the image above.
1. EXERCISE
No matter what type of exercise you choose, it is important to move. Exercise is a great stress relief and it is essential for your mental and physical well-being. 1 hour is great but if you can’t do 1 hour, make it shorter and make it count.
2. WATER
The more water you drink, the less hungry you will be. Replacing soft drinks with water may be a good choice.
3. TEA
If you drink tea, make sure it is non-caffeinated because caffeine will dehydrate you. Herbal teas with some lemon are my personal favourites. If you must sweeten, choose honey instead of sugar.
4. COLOURFUL LUNCH AND/OR DINNER
The more veggies you eat, the better it is for weight control and your well-being. Different colours will give you a sense of your food variety. My husband and I purchased a Vitamix blender many years ago and we drink vegetable smoothies every day.
5. MEDITATION
Only a few minutes of meditation will help you to control stress, decrease anxiety, improve cardiovascular health, and become more mindful in your day-to-day life. Check out my favourite mediation apps Calm or Headspace.
6. MUSIC
Choose a few of your favourite songs and see how fast you can shift your mood. These songs may take you back to when you were young, to a fun experience or simply make you feel good.
7. SMILE/LAUGHTER
Life is too short not to laugh and smile. I think it is best to surround yourself with people who make you smile or laugh. If you don’t have that luxury, find other ways to entertain yourself (comedy show, your favourite comedian, sitcom, jokes, etc). It is known as a really good stress relief (even if you fake a smile and hold it for 1 minute).
8. SLEEP
Make sure to get enough sleep – 7 to 8 hours should be sufficient. You cannot live a productive life without getting enough sleep. If you have difficulties sleeping because of work, you want to take this seriously and explore your options. I also recommend a sleep apnea test.
9. READ
Give yourself a “screen break” and get back into old-fashioned reading instead of watching TV or spending time on your laptop or phone. A good book can help you to escape into a completely different world and relax the mind.
10. BE GRATEFUL
If you focus on the things you have, it will help you to be in a better mental state. Write down a few things every day. You will be surprised at how many people, situations and things you can be grateful for.
Even if you pick one new habit, it will be a life-enhancing change. Some will, some won’t. Will you?
