Would you consider yourself a mentally strong person?
I have seen so many people who give up way too early on whatever they would like to achieve. They become angry and frustrated, and I am not going to lie, I was one of them.
Over the years I have learned that it is key to become mentally and emotionally so strong that you are in control instead of allowing outside circumstances to bend you out of shape.
If you are like me and you are an over-achiever, you definitely have to work for it and you have to have a mental strategy in place (most often overlooked), so that you don’t fall into your “default settings” (being reactive and fearful).
Truth to be told, I have a “monkey mind”. I have so many ideas in my head and at times it is very difficult not to feel distracted and overwhelmed. I lose focus and then I become discouraged. It can be vicious circle if you allow it to be. The following little self-reflection helps me to get back on track.
Here are a few questions that I ask myself every day:
- Is what I am doing right now helping me to achieve my goals? (time wasters)
- What am I most grateful for? (family, friends, own progress)
- How can I learn and grow today? (from other people, books, videos, seminars, mistakes)
- How can I contribute value to others? (be kind, be helpful, be supportive, share your knowledge, demonstrate respect)
I encourage you to implement some kind of self-reflection into your life. It will help you to focus on the positive instead of feeling lost and stressed.
