Manufacturing Executive Coaching Stress-Management

It’s Wednesday and it’s time for “Manufacturing Leadership Minute” with Karin.

Do You Want to Get a Better Handle on Stress?

I hope you missed my messages these past 2 days. Someone attempted to hack my website and my web designer and my hosting company worked hard to fix the problem. There was nothing I could do, so I decided to stay calm and wait.

If you know a little bit about me, you must know how passionate I am about being active.

It makes me feel good when people send me emails about wanting to improve their health or thanking me for becoming more active after being in my workshops or reading my messages.

Exercise is known to be one of the best stress management tools and for me it is the best way to recharge my batteries.

If you don’t like to exercise, that’s o.k. Simply get into the habit of going for a walk – alone or with a friend, a family member or your dog.

Tony Robbins has coined the phrase, “Emotion is created by motion.”

In other words, if you feel emotionally drained and stressed, get away from your screen and start moving – especially if you have just recently started to work from home.

I guarantee that you will start feeling better in an instant.

Regular physical activity will improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance and immune system. It is a given that when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores.

Good examples during Covid19:

  • walking (daily for your mental, emotional and physical health)
  • running
  • dancing (choose music you like and just dance)
  • yoga (I can recommend “Yoga with Adriene”)
  • pilates (many choice online depending on your level)
  • gym (right now online workout videos are the best alternative)
  • ping pong (in case you have a table at home)
  • golf
  • cycling (outdoors or indoors)
  • Peloton Bike/Workouts (pricy option)
  • Mirror Workout (another pricy option for people who like gadgets)

Find something that fits your needs and/or have the courage to try something new. Being fit certainly doesn’t have to cost a lot of money (only self-discipline) and it will benefit you on so many levels.

In the grand scheme of things it is important that you look after yourself, especially during stressful times. Fresh air and self-care are important.

It’s a given that our mental, emotional and physical level of fitness is the foundation for the results we have in our life, and without our health we have nothing.

Do you stress too much over things that are outside of your control? If this is the case, I recommend you repeat the phrase in the picture daily.

It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something.

Food for Thought:

If you drive the car and you notice that you’re almost out of gas, it is normal to drive to the gas station to fill up. The same is true for our energy. We have to be mindful when we are running on empty and it’s important to know what we can do about it.
