Manufacture your Day by KNOWING THAT ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS

It’s Wednesday and it’s time for “Manufacturing Leadership Minute” with Karin and Adrian.

Do you think we should keep in mind how we interact with each other at home and at work?
What trademark do we leave with our actions?
Think about this for a moment:
- Do you easily get impatient with the people you love?
- Do you think you’ve earned the right (title, power, husband/wife) to verbally abuse others?
- Is profanity (swear words, dirty words, bad words, foul language, obscenity) a consistent part of your vocabulary?
- Have you ever considered how your words and actions affect others?
- Are people happy when you enter the room or when you leave the room?
From looking at my own shortcomings, I know that it takes hard work and determination to become a better person.
It’s good to remember Wilson Mizner’s classic advice:
“Be kind to everyone on the way up; you’ll meet the same people on the way down.”
You have to take an interest in yourself and in others to make progress along the way.
Let me tell you a funny story.
When I first moved to Canada, I didn’t know that everyone here would ask, “How are you?” but nobody really wants to know. I had absolutely no idea that “How are you?” was just a superficial part of the greeting.
I couldn’t understand why people would ask, “How are you?” and keep walking down the hall. I found it rude and disrespectful, to say the least.
Wouldn’t it be a nice gesture to stop and really listen to what the person has to say when we ask this question? It’s simple, effective, and meaningful.
People will go the extra mile for you when they see that you care.
I suggest you give it a try. It’s the little things that have the biggest impact.
Do your actions speak louder than words?
Food for Thought:
If you are kind to others, it will reduce your level of stress. The moment you focus on doing good to other people, you have less time to think about your own problems. Awesome, isn’t it?
