Manufacturing Training Impostor Syndrome Coaching

As you can imagine, I meet all kinds of people, and in my mind, this is the best part of my job. I like to instill confidence and bring out the best in them.

Unfortunately, countless people doubt themselves. Truth be told, I sometimes doubt myself. Who doesn’t? I do believe a good portion of self-doubt and self-reflection doesn’t hurt because it keeps you alert and in a mental state of self-improvement. If you start thinking that you don’t deserve to do what you do or to be where you are, I encourage you to think again.

Have you ever felt like a fraud in your job? Have you ever been in survival mode, worried that one day someone will find out you’re not good enough?

In psychology, this is called Impostor Syndrome. It refers to a behaviour pattern when people doubt their accomplishments and think they are where they are due to luck and good timing.

How can you overcome impostor syndrome?

1. Awareness:

Please know that you’re not alone. So many people feel this way. The stories we tell ourselves in our minds are powerful. Change the story, yet keep your ego in check!

2. Conversation:

Trust others and share what’s going on in your mind. Things that bother you over a long time can make you sick. If your thoughts are negative, you will start to feel bad, and if you feel bad, you start behaving poorly. When you start behaving poorly, you lose your productivity. “Downloading” your thoughts in the form of a good conversation can do wonders. You can speak to friends or co-workers, choose a mentor or hire a coach.

3. Positivity:

Ask people for references, endorsements, and constructive feedback (What do you like most about working with me? How can I do better?) to collect a lot of positive data. Many people only remember criticism. If you receive positive comments, make sure to write them down. Reading words of encouragement in moments of self-doubt is tremendously helpful.

If you are here reading my daily messages, you’re not an impostor, you are an improver.

Remember that!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Conquer your mind. It’s the main thing that holds you back in anything you want to achieve.
