Manufacture Your Day by BEING AWARE THAT THE ROBOTS ARE COMING
Many people who work in the “corporate bubble” don’t seem to be aware of how drastically our work environments are going to change. The robots are coming and about 800 million jobs (source: the book below) are going to be displaced by automation over the next decade.
Richard Baldwin, the author of the book “The Globotics Upheaval”, says:
“Automation and globalization are century-old stories. Globotics is different for two big reasons:
- It’s coming inhumanely fast
- It will seem unbelievably unfair
Strangely enough, automation will help humans to become more human at work.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a
- Top Level Executive
- Supervisor or
dumping old habits and beliefs, and learning new ways to lead and communicate is no longer a “nice-to-have”. It’s a “must-have”.
Prepare yourself to have skills, that a robot doesn’t have.
If you have a job that can be done by a robot, you are well-advised to think about your future and shift gears.
‘The main upside of for employees and employers is that AI (artificial intelligence) is most likely to take away the highly repeatable and mundane tasks. This should free us to do more meaningful work that involves creativity, curiosity, empathy, and judgment,’ Dominic Price, global work futurist at Atlassian, tells Metro.co.uk.
‘To achieve this, companies need to open up their ways of communicating, experimenting, sharing context, and evolving.’
Price says that employers need to understand that ‘most of us have grown up in a world where work was 9-to-5 and Monday to Friday’ and that just ‘because we can be on 24/7, doesn’t mean we should’. Read more.
If you get into the swing of continuous learning and self-improvement, you will have a good chance to stay ahead of the game. It will pay off tremendously if you learn to have strong interpersonal skills and a flexible mind.
This will help you to cope better in times of uncertainty and change.

- Welcome change
- Practice mental flexibility
