Manufacture Your Day by BECOMING MORE MINDFUL
There is a lot of discussion about mindfulness but what is it and why can it be really important for you?
Mindfulness means that we become more aware of the present moment without judgment and without being lost in thought. It is about acknowledging our feelings and knowing that if we shift our thought process, we can change the way we feel.
I have always said that one of my talents is to enjoy the moment. I can really appreciate the little things in life and I don’t experience FOMO (fear of missing out).
Can I give you an example? I can sit for a few minutes and simply focus on my breath – breathing in and breathing out. It takes effort and practice but you can learn to control the little voice in your head.
Tips for mindfulness starters:
- Go for a walk outside and pay attention to what you see, hear, feel, smell and even taste (eat more mindful)
- Be present before you enter your workplace or when you return home
- Take a few deep breaths and just focus on that
- Take a different route from/to work
- Disconnect from your phone
- Allow yourself to be bored
- Try something new
I personally love trail running because it forces me to be present in order to concentrate on the roots, rocks and other obstacles along the way.
In a world of high speed and never-ending demands, it can be really difficult to slow down.
This takes effort, practice and the knowledge that slowing yourself down will actually help you to get further faster.
Here are a few benefits of mindfulness:

- better emotional control
- reduced stress
- helps to improve personality disorders
- increase mental agility
- reduce ruminative thinking
- improve focus
- mental, emotional and physical health
If you are anything like me, you tend to lose patience with yourself and the people around you.
People who are on the path of being an overachiever have to learn that being (i.e. calm, focused, kind, positive, patient, etc.) is at times so much more important than doing.
