When I was a teenager, my mom used to tell me, “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.” (Benjamin Franklin)

Unfortunately, her well-meant advice didn’t have much effect on me. I always chose fun over boring tasks, and honestly… that still holds true today.

Oh my gosh, I am such a procrastinator but in a good way, if you know what I mean. Over the years, I’ve learned to reframe my procrastination as a hidden talent, and it has completely changed how I see myself.

Would you like to know how I discovered that procrastination is actually one of my strengths?

I…

  • can pack for a trip at the last minute without forgetting anything — ever.

  • never prepare my clothes for the next day, yet I’m still ready faster than most people.

  • can design a new workshop in a day because I mentally walk through it first, then pull it together in no time.

  • believe focusing on tasks closer to the deadline may create stress, but for me, creativity and efficiency always win.

  • think having fun while being productive is a skill.

  • know that turning stress into positive momentum is energizing.

  • have recognized that mental flexibility helps me finish things quickly and effectively.

I’ve realized this works because I’m a “procrastinating overachiever.” Imagine that! Even with procrastination, I still get more done than most people I know.

Here’s how a procrastinator can still get stuff done:

  • I break goals into achievable action steps for each week.

  • Weekly goal review is non-negotiable.

  • Every Friday, I write down what I accomplished and what the plan is for next week.

  • I don’t beat myself up if I’m delayed on a project (as long as it doesn’t affect the client).

  • Celebrating what I did get done — instead of focusing on what I didn’t — has been a total game changer.

What if everything you’re doing right now just needs a little mental reframing to make you feel good about yourself?

Celebrate today — it will make for a better tomorrow. Guaranteed.

Get ready to tap into your awesomeness. You deserve it.

Food for Thought:

What is one of your bad habits that would be worthy of reframing?
