People in many manufacturing companies are overworked while their skill, talent and brainpower is under-utilized. Believe me, this is a very sad scenario to observe.

People have to do more with less, yet they miss the golden opportunity to tap into the resourcefulness of the people around them.

Please let me assure you, working long hours doesn’t solve anything. Actually quite the opposite is true. Frustrated, stressed and anxious employees come at a very high cost for any organization. Health & Safety concerns, quality issues, lack of creativity, high turnover and absenteeism are just a few examples.

If you are someone who has extra long working days because you try to do it right for everyone, you will burn out rather sooner than later.

Your body and mind needs to rest and recharge in order to perform at its best.

This should be common sense but common sense isn’t common these days.

Stress kills. I am sure you have heard this before.

“According to the American Psychological Association, chronic stress is linked to the six leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide. And more than 75 percent of all physician office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.”

Here is a simple reminder from me to you:

Know your limits! If you don’t set your boundaries, nobody else will.

Repeat after me: “It is not my job to be everything to everyone.”

You’re welcome!
