Another Ironman 70.3 is in my books.

1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21.1 km run  on the hottest day of the year in Syracuse/NY.

Hands down the toughest race I have ever done. Ever! It was soooo windy combined with detrimental heat (40 degrees celsius) 😰 on the bike and on the run. Super choppy water in the swim. Good times!

25 miles/hour wind gusts and head wind most of the time as if these hills on the bike 🚴 wouldn’t have been tough enough as it is. 😩 Syracuse has the toughest bike course in North America.

The moral of the story? At the end of the day you have to train to get better at what you do, give it your best and be able to deal with all these unforeseen circumstances.

Sound familiar?

In my case I finished strong and healthy 1 hour and 27 minutes before the cut off time, and I was 20th in my age category out of 57 women. I take it!

You can have excuses or you can have results, but you can’t have both.

  1. Way to go, Karen! You inspire me daily with your blog, and even more so with your physical commitment (which I have to believe is 75% mental!)
    Congrats! Thank you!
